Charging Pile Industry has Plenty of Room for Future Growth

Up to now, the country's 6618 highway service areas, 3102 service areas have been built 13,374 charging piles, basically meet the current electric vehicle charging requirements.

However, industry insiders said, compared with the rapid development of new energy vehicles in China, the current highway charging infrastructure is not enough to set the total amount of insufficient coverage and other problems are still more prominent, ordinary national and provincial trunk roads and rural roads charging infrastructure construction work has not yet fully started, can not effectively meet the needs of electric vehicles long-distance travel.

With the rising production and sales volume of new energy vehicles, the charging pile as an important support infrastructure ushers in development opportunities. "There is a lot of room for future growth in the charging pile industry." Tong Zongqi, director of the information department of the China Charging Union, said previously.

Since this year, Yunnan, Suzhou, Sichuan, Chongqing and other places have intensively issued policies to promote the construction of charging infrastructure. According to Suzhou's "14th Five-Year Plan" for electric vehicle public charging facilities, a total of 200,000 charging piles are expected to be built in Suzhou by 2025, requiring an investment of approximately RMB 6 billion to build charging facilities during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.

The purchase tax exemption policy for new energy vehicles has been postponed until the end of 2023, further extending the industry's high boom status. Everbright Securities pointed out that as of the end of June 2022, the "vehicle-pile ratio" of domestic new energy vehicles was 2.6:1, and there is still much room for improvement.

The market size of the domestic charging pile industry will reach 41.87 billion yuan in 2021, and the rapid growth period of the charging pile industry will be from 2021 to 2026, with an estimated 17.66 million units of domestic charging facilities in 2026 and a market size of over 200 billion yuan.
